SEPTEMBER 2004
Hello Everyone,
Just a few words to
let you know what's been happening with us lot.
First of all, thank you to
everyone who came to our gigs last April. We all had a great time and I hope
you did too. It was so good to work with Kellie While, what a voice and what a
talent, and what a lovely girl. Iconic Music and Media, Stevie and Andy, did us
proud, they were so helpful with every aspect of the tour, so we are going to
be doing it again next March/April 2005, so it would be great to see you all
again, bring your friends.
David Hughes will be with us this time, an
old and dear friend, we all love his music. I've been quite busy since April. I
went touring in the U.S. with John Renbourn during April/May, a lot of driving,
I think I know the Beltway around Washington D.C. almost as well as I know the
M25, but we had a good time, only locked ourselves out of the car once!!! Our
drive into New York was spectacular, the sky went purple and the heavens
opened. Simultaneous lighting flashes across the whole sky lasted till we got
into Mannhattan, scary but exciting at the same time.
We flew home
separately, as John was going back to Scotland and I was going to Gatwick. We
were both delayed by bad weather(storms) me for 6 hours and John for 2 days!!!
In july we went to Italy accompanied by Tony Roberts (John Renbourn
Group) a great flute player. Italy is about my favourite country, not just for
the food and wine, although they play a delicious part, but also the culture
and friendliness, we had a great time, thank you Gigi (our Italian agent).
In August I did a couple of songs with Fairport Convention at their
annual bash in Cropredy, involving rehearsals and a warm up at the Mill theatre
in Banbury and the Saturday Night at Cropredy itself, it was all very
enjoyable. Gerry was there, of course, so was Spencer Cozens and Alan Thomson
as usual. We all had a play with annA rydeR on her set on the Friday, great
fun. It's a great social gathering, meeting up with friends that you may not
have seen since the previous year. It's a shame to think it might be the last
one, who knows?
Since April Gerry has been pretty busy with Fairports,
touring and playing at festivals throughout the U.K. and Europe, he has also
been doing sessions on other musicians albums.
Spen toured with John Martyn
(Gerry and I saw them at the Anvil in Basingstoke) it was great, so good to see
JM back touring after his op'. He is going out again in November. Spen has also
been touring with Joan Armatrading.
Garry Foot, our newest member, is also
in her band. He is juggling a music degree at North London university too.
Alan has been very busy, working on his own band project and playing
with many others including John Jorgenson and Long John Baldry. Gerry, Spen and
I are working on a new album, in between our other commitments, we hope it will
be out by our tour in March/April. I'm off to Canada in a few days, touring
with John Renbourn, I haven't been there in quite a while, so I'm looking
forward to it.
We will also be doing some gigs together in the U.K. during
October and November, do check out Johns' web site. That's all for now folks,
hope to see you around the U.K. sometime, and definitely next March/April
All the best Jacqui
